Ormoc, Philippines. Three years after Leyte was pummeled by super typhoon Yolanda, this regular and annual gathering of the young remains strong and undaunted. The camp was participated by almost 200 young people from all seven barangays (villages) under the pastoral care of the Claretians in the area. This activity has been an excellent venue to identify and form youth leaders for the mission, young partners for their missionary works. “KEEP THE HEARTS BURNING” was the theme chosen by the young people for the 10th Claret Summer Youth Camp held last April 20-23, 2016, held at the Claretian Mission center in Ormoc, Leyte.
The 3-day camp was held in the spirit of prayer and youthful activities. Daily masses and prayers were important components. Part of the camp was also the showcase of their personal talents in arts and music. Series of talks which focused on youth leadership, family and personal values, ecology and care for the earth, were also given to enhance more and give depth to the entirety of the activity. At the end of the camp, awards and recognition were given to individuals and groups for their participation during the final Eucharistic celebration presided by Fr. Larry Miranda, cmf and Fr. Thoman Tran Van Kiem, cmf.
