Another Ambush in Tumahubong

Tumahubong, Sumisip, Basilan. Six armed men near block 26, near Fuente Tumahubong, few blocks away from the Tumahubong proper at around 11:30 am, Friday, September 7, 2012 fired at a truck load of gomeros coming home from their tapping activity. One died, Dingcong Gaudencio, Sr, in the incident and thirty-five gomeros were wounded. The eleven gravely wounded gomeros were airlifted to Zamboanga for treatment after almost three hours of waiting for the helicopters due to bad weather condition. The rest of the wounded were brought to Infante Hospital in Isabela City.

This is the fourth attack on rubber plantation workers of TARBIDC. The first one was last October 23, 2011 followed by April 5, 2012. The third was just last July 11  where eight people died and twenty nine wounded.

On July 15, our Missionaries: Fr. Julius Boado, CMF, Fr. Elmer Cantular, CMF, Rev. Louie Guades III, CMF, Sch. Aldrin Castellones, CMF with Mrs. Angelita Grado survived an attempted ambush in the same area.
