Zamboanga City, Philippines. Ninety-six youth from the Claretian mission posts in the south of the Philippines participated at the 2019 Claret Youth Camp – South from May 17 to 19, 2019 which was hosted by Claret Youth Ministry – Zamboanga at the Claret School of Zamboanga City grounds. The three-day event with the theme “Claretians: God’s Joyful and Faithful Influencers” based its activities from the two major celebrations previously held: World Youth Day Panama 2019 + CF, National Youth Day 2019 held in Cebu, and in preparation for the AEYG 2019 + CF that will take place in Dili, Timor Leste in August.
The participants received a daily dose of catechetical and spiritual supplements through talks and activities. Mr. Ted Jao talked on “Fiat: Brave, Generous, and Joyful” which was further elaborated with talks and testimonies coming from a panel who have already given their definitive ‘yes’ to their specific vocations. Mr. Sonny Boy Olivar talked on “Treasuring the Cradle of Christianity’s Gift of Faith” – discussing about the Church and the Christian faith. The third topic was “Community of Believers Bringing Change to the World” which was put into action through the immersion of the pilgrims to the different communities in their service revolution. Lastly, “Together with Mary, we are the Servants of the Lord”, embodied through the Claretian Anno Domini which focused on the plans of the Claretians in their perspective Youth Ministries.
One of the novelties of this camp is the establishment of the Claret Youth Camp symbol – the image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. From Zamboanga City, the host of the 3rd National Youth Camp in 2015, the image was turned over to the CYM of San Roque Parish of Tungawan. The 4th National Claret Youth Camp is scheduled to be held in the Summer of 2020 in Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay Province.
