Claretians in Basilan celebrates 165th foundation Day

Maluso, Basilan. The Claretian community in Basilan celebrated the Claretian foundation day last July 16, 2014 spearheaded by the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHMP) parish priest Rev. Fr. Efren Decreto, CMF. maluso1The celebration was started with a Eucharistic celebration accompanied with the renewal of profession of Bro. Arvin Arcete, CMF assigned as a Claretian pastoralist in the Claret Samal Bajau Foundation Inc. (CSFI). It was attended by the different networks of the Claretians in Basilan and was presided by the superior of the Claretian community in Basilan Rev. Fr. Elmer Cantular, CMF. Together in the celebration was the commemoration of Claret Samal Foundation Inc. (CSFI) 18th foundation day. The theme of the whole celebration was, “Building Communities in Prophetic Solidarity”.

The celebration was culminated with a short program. And in the program, Rev. Fr. Elmer Cantular, CMF gave a short history of the Claretian mission in Basilan followed with entertaining presentations from different Claretian institutions. The Claretian institutions who presented were CSFI’s Bajau Peoples Organization, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Youth Ministry (IHMP-YM), IHMP Choir, Claret School of Maluso Teatro and San Vicente Ferrer Parishioners. It was concluded with a short message of Bro. Joseph Villarin, CMF school-director of Claret School of Tumahubong (CST) who gave the program’s closing remarks. It was a sort of thanksgiving to the Lord for the continued blessings He bestowed to the Claretian congregation and the Christian community in Basilan. And it was also an act of praise to Saint Anthony Mary Claret and the co-founders who arduously prepared the congregation so that it can build communities in prophetic solidarity.
It was indeed a successful and an inspiring celebration.
