Faith in Action: SAMP Amidst Zamboanga Standoff

Zamboanga CityClaret Parish Social Action extended their help to the evacuees at the Don Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex (Grandstand) Tuesday, September 10, 2013. The crisis in Zamboanga City continues and evacuees continue to rise also. Claret Parish is still in need of donations in cash or in kind so that they can respond to the needs of the evacuees at the Grandstand. The Parish office with landline number 991-1582 and mobile number 09358346049 is open to accept donations from 7 am to 5 pm. In terms of extending voluntary work, volunteers have to go to the Sangguniang Panlungsod Volunteer Sign Up Desk or coordinate with the social action group of the parish.

The office of the  City Mayor released a public advisory encouraging donation of cooked foods or foods that can easily be cooked such as rice, noodles, sardines and water as well as clothing, blankets and mats to ensure continuous supply for the mounting number of evacuees. The donations are asked to be coursed to the command center under the supervision of City Administrator Antonio Orendain Jr. at the City Council or the designated drop off centers such as Ateneo de Zamboanga and Claret School of Zamboanga City.

Media coverage of the Zamboanga standoff is limited right now due to the orders of the Military and the City Government. For the benefit of those who wish to be updated of the events as they unfold, you may watch through this online tv-radio local station in Zamboanga City:
