Quezon City. ICLA Chinese students commemorate the Liberation Day of the People’s Republic of China and the canonization of 120 martyrs canonized by John Paul II in the year 2000 last Monday night at the Domingo Moraleda Hall in Tandang Sora, Avenue. The celebration was capped off by a cultural mass. Fr. Paul Hou read the Gospel from a paper scroll like what Chinese Emperors did a hundred years ago when they read their “Decree” or their holy will to their people. During the offertory ten sisters offered ten different kinds of “offerings.” For the Chinese, ten symbolizes the perfect number.
The Eucharistic Celebration was followed a by Cultural Night. The highlight of it was the dance performed by by four priests and four lay people entitled “Most Dazzling Nations Ethos.” The essence of the dance was to show their joy after worshipping God and it captures the principle of the Chinese people, that is, to constantly strive to become stronger.
