Quezon City, Philippines. The Philippine Province celebrated its pre-capitular assembly from September 28-30, 2015 at the Claret Retreat House. The pre-capitular assembly was convoked with three objectives, namely: to review and reflect on the Province’s mission in the life of the Church, to evaluate the commitments of the previous Provincial Chapter and to know the issues to be discussed in the upcoming XIV Provincial Chapter on February 22-27, 2016.
It was attended by perpetually professed members coming from different missionary posts in the Philippines, Vietnam and Australia. Also present in the pre-capitular assembly was Fr. Leo M. Dalmao, CMF recently elected General Prefect of Formation, who expressed his gratitude to the Province for the opportunity to serve as major superior for almost 6 years.
The assembly opened with an initial reflection on “The Joy of the Gospel in the mission of Asia and the Philippines” delivered by Fr. Antonio Pernia, SVD former Superior General of the Society of the Divine Word. The Provincial Superior Fr. Eduardo C. Apungan,CMF read the provincial government’s evaluation relative to the pre-capitular assembly questionnaire and the current issues in the internal life and mission of the Province. There were discussions and small group sharing on specific areas of governance, formation, economy and mission.
The results of the pre-capitular assembly will serve as materials for the pre-capitular commission to work upon and to prepare a framework whereby a clear vision will be articulated in consonance with the orientations of the recently concluded XXV General Chapter.
